Xiaomi’s sub-brand, Redmi, has kicked off the new year by introducing the Redmi Note 13 Series to the Malaysian market. This lineup comprises three distinct smartphones – the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G, Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G, and Redmi Note 13 5G. We had the opportunity to explore the middle sibling, the RedMi Note 13 Pro+, and after spending a week with it, here’s our comprehensive review.

Distinctive Design
The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ stands out as the most uniquely designed smartphone in the series. Diverging from its more affordable counterparts, the Redmi Note 13 and Redmi Note 13 Pro, this device boasts a curved display and a leather back panel—a first for Redmi Note smartphones. This combination sets it apart, exuding a premium feel not commonly associated with devices in its price range.

Features like the curved leather back panel, IP68 rating, and curved display contribute to the Redmi Note 13 Pro+’s premium aesthetics. While these features are not exclusive to this device in its price category, they undoubtedly enhance its overall appeal.
Impressive Display
The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ features a 6.67” AMOLED 1.5k Crystal Display with the latest luminescent material, offering vibrant colors and an immersive viewing experience. The 2712 x 1220 resolution and 1800 nits peak brightness ensure a sharp and bright display.

Despite the trend of flagship phones moving away from curved displays, mid-range devices like the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ are embracing this design as a novelty feature. The phone also introduces the first-ever in-display fingerprint sensor in a Redmi Note smartphone, akin to optical in-display sensors on most Android devices.
The default vivid mode saturates colors, but users can switch to standard mode for a more natural color profile.
The immersive viewing experience is complemented by dual stereo speakers, and the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protects the display, offering a peak brightness of 1,800 nits.
Camera Capabilities
Equipped with a triple camera setup, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ boasts a primary 200MP sensor, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 2MP macro camera with LED flash.

In well-lit conditions, the main sensor captures detailed and vibrant images, with a commendable performance in portrait mode. Even in low-light situations, the smartphone delivers satisfactory results, with the ultra-wide camera managing distortions effectively. The selfie camera excels in well-lit conditions, maintaining a natural skin tone for quality self-portraits.

Performance and Software
Pioneering in technology, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7200-Ultra Flagship-level 4nm processor, providing a smooth mobile gaming experience with high refresh rates. With impressive heat dissipation capabilities, the phone ensures optimal performance, even during extended usage.

Robust Battery Life
With a 5,000mAh battery and support for 120W fast charging, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ offers impressive battery life. The device easily lasts over a day on a full charge, and its fast-charging capability allows it to reach a full charge in approximately 45 minutes.
What’s Included in the Box
The retail package includes the smartphone, a Type-A to Type-C charging cable, a 67W charging brick, a black silicon case, a SIM-eject pin, and a user manual.

The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ emerges as a well-rounded smartphone, ticking almost every box. Priced under RM 2,000, it stands out as one of the top choices in its category. Offering three RAM and storage variants—8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB—the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ is available in Coral Purple, Arctic White, and Midnight Black.
