The 2023 Malaysia International Durian Culture Fest (MIDCF) concluded with a bang, setting two new records in the Malaysia Book of Records and drawing the participation of 1,000 enthusiastic runners for the largest durian fun run.

This three-day durian extravaganza commenced on September 8th and was officially inaugurated by Dato Dr. Ammar Abd Ghapar, the Director General of Tourism Malaysia. It culminated with the presence of Y.M. Tengku Dato’ Dr. Hishammuddin Zaizi bin Y.A.M Tengku Bendahara Azman Shah Alhaj from the Royal Family of Sultan Selangor.

The first MIDCF event took baby steps at DKing SS2, attracting only a few hundred attendees. The second edition, hosted at Pavilion Bukit Jalil, saw a crowd of 2,000 after the pandemic recovery.

However, the third edition was the most impressive, with 3,600 durian enthusiasts and 1,000 runners proudly brought together by the joint efforts of DKing and LKE Musang Queen. The addition of the Durian Fun Run on September 10th was a resounding success, bringing families together for a 5KM walk while holding replicas of Malaysia’s Musang King Durian. The event fostered family bonding and was kicked off by Malaysia’s Supermodel Amber Chia and Famous DJ Chan Fong, following warm-up exercises and a photo opportunity session.

The concluding durian buffet saw over 150 attendees, including notable figures like beauty queen winner Carrie Lee and Malaysian Singer Winnie K. More than 20 lucky draw prizes were distributed, including a Versace Card Holder.

The festivities concluded on a heartwarming note as MELIFE set a new record by performing 1,458 face washes in a single day, surpassing the previous record of 1,154. The dedicated team worked tirelessly from 8 am to 7 pm, raising approximately RM2,000. Datin Seri Jekkie later boosted the donation to RM5,000, which will be used to provide vegetarian food to those in need, with the support of Carrie Lee.

In another remarkable achievement, Brian Lee of LikeMedia shattered his own previous record of 4 million views on Google Map by almost tripling it, reaching a new milestone of 11 million views in a year. The Malaysia Book of Records recognized this exceptional accomplishment, with the presentation being carried out by Mr. Edwin Yeoh, Senior Adjudicator of MBR, and witnessed by Y.M. Tengku Dato’ Dr. Hishammuddin Zaizi and Tan Sri Danny Ooi, the Founder of Malaysia Book of Records.
