Sajian Nana Dulu & Kini: Where Ramadhan Memories Are Set at the Table

At InterContinental Kuala Lumpur this Ramadhan, the idea of “home” is not treated as a place but as a feeling—one shaped by familiar aromas, patient cooking and the quiet comfort of dishes prepared the way our elders once did. Sajian Nana Dulu & Kini, available from 23 February to 21 March 2026, is conceived as a heartfelt journey through heritage and togetherness, drawing from recipes passed down through generations and framed by the reflective spirit of the holy month.

The hotel’s approach is deliberately intimate. Rather than chasing novelty, the culinary team anchors the experience in memory—food that reminds diners of family kitchens where traditions were preserved and stories shared. Under the guidance of Executive Chef Rudy Junaidie, the buffet respects these roots while presenting them with the polish expected of a five-star setting. Even the presence of a live demonstration by “Nana” reinforces this narrative, offering a gentle reminder of how these dishes were once prepared and shared.

A Journey Through Heritage Flavours at Serena Brasserie

Served at Serena Brasserie from 23 February to 18 March 2026, the Sajian Nana Dulu & Kini dinner buffet unfolds as a thoughtfully paced Iftar from 6.30pm to 10.30pm. The opening spread leans towards comfort and warmth, easing diners into the meal after a day of fasting.

One of the standouts is Sup Campur Berempah “Wak Shukur”, a spice-laced soup simmered patiently until the broth takes on depth rather than heat. The tender cuts of meat absorb the gentle aromatics, resulting in a bowl that is soothing and quietly complex—very much the kind of soup that anchors a family meal.

The Ikan Bakar Melaka carries a subtle Portuguese influence, with the marinade lending just enough tang and spice to complement the natural sweetness of the fish. Grilled to a light smokiness, it recalls coastal cooking traditions and is best enjoyed with a squeeze of lime and a spoon of sambal.

For heartier appetites, Gulai Kering Tetel Kukus Buluh delivers richness without excess. The beef, slow-cooked with heritage spices and steamed in bamboo, emerges tender and deeply flavoured, with the bamboo lending an earthy aroma that enhances the dish’s layered profile. A similar technique is applied to the Steamed Braised Aromatic Beef in Bamboo, where the meat is succulent and comforting, infused with natural fragrance that lingers pleasantly on the palate.

The Ayam Panggang Sambal Belimbing offers contrast. The roasted chicken is juicy with lightly crisped skin, while the house-made belimbing sambal introduces a tangy brightness that cuts through the savoury notes, keeping the dish lively and balanced.

Beyond these signatures, the buffet expands into a celebratory spread. Live and carving stations add theatre, with highlights such as Afghan Whole Lamb, its meat tender and well-seasoned, alongside roasted orange honey glaze chicken and yellow pepper barbecue beef brisket. Traditional accompaniments—Lemang, Ketupat Bawang, Beef Rendang Tok, Serunding Ayam and Bubur Lambuk—reinforce the sense of familiarity, while a premium seafood selection featuring fresh tiger prawns, oysters and seasonal catches elevates the experience without straying from its roots.

The Sajian Nana Dulu & Kini buffet is priced at RM288 nett per adult and RM178 nett per child aged 6 to 12. Children aged five and below dine for free, while senior citizens aged 60 and above enjoy a 50 per cent discount—an inclusive gesture that aligns with the theme of family and togetherness.

Raya Bersama Nana: A Joyful Conclusion

As Ramadhan draws to a close, Raya Bersama Nana takes over Serena Brasserie on 20 and 21 March 2026, from 6.30pm to 10.30pm. The mood here is brighter and more festive, celebrating abundance and reunion after a month of reflection.

Centre-stage is once again the Afghan Whole Lamb, complemented by lively stations serving Penang Char Kuay Teow and Mee Rebus, both cooked to order and rich with wok hei and robust gravies. Middle Eastern touches, such as Lebanese Chicken Shawarma, add variety without overwhelming the Selera Kampung core. An expansive seafood display and refined carving selections round out the savoury offerings.

Dessert is a nostalgic affair. Traditional Kuih Raya, warm sweet treats, ABC, Cendol and fresh tropical fruits provide a satisfying and playful finish, echoing the joy of visiting relatives during Aidilfitri.

Pricing for Raya Bersama Nana mirrors the Ramadhan buffet at RM288 nett per adult and RM178 nett per child aged 6 to 12, with children aged five and below dining free and senior citizens receiving a 50 per cent discount.

In a city where Ramadhan buffets often compete on scale, InterContinental Kuala Lumpur distinguishes itself by returning to something simpler and more enduring: the taste of home.
