Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel & Convention Centre is turning an afternoon tea experience into an opportunity to give back to the community, with 10 per cent of proceeds from every Pink Hour Afternoon Tea Set sold throughout October being channelled to the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM).

Launched in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, The Pink Hour is a month-long initiative by the hotel aimed at raising awareness of breast cancer while supporting patients, survivors and families affected by the disease.
The campaign reflects Renaissance Kuala Lumpur’s broader commitment to engaging with and contributing to the local community. Its partnership with NCSM is particularly meaningful, with the cancer society located just steps away from the hotel.

At the heart of the campaign is the Pink Hour Afternoon Tea Set, available at the hotel’s R Bar throughout October. Rather than simply offering a themed dining experience, the hotel has incorporated a charitable element into the initiative, with 10 per cent of proceeds from every set sold donated directly to NCSM to support its ongoing cancer awareness and patient care efforts.
Martin Ehlers, Multi-Property General Manager of Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel & Convention Centre and Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur, City Centre, said the initiative reflected the hotel’s belief in being an active member of the community in which it operates.
“At Renaissance, we celebrate the neighbourhood and the communities around us. With the National Cancer Society Malaysia being merely steps away from the hotel, this collaborative campaign is especially meaningful,” he said.
“We hope to create greater awareness through The Pink Hour campaign, while supporting a cause that touches many lives. We believe with the unveiling of The Pink Hour Afternoon Tea Set at R Bar, the offering comes with a purpose where our guests can benefit from enjoying the experience while contributing towards breast cancer awareness and patient care.”
The campaign was officially unveiled ahead of Breast Cancer Awareness Month at R Bar, bringing together media representatives, campaign partners, hotel leaders and ambassadors.

The launch was officiated by Mandy Thoo, Deputy Director of Community Engagement and HELPP at NCSM, together with Ehlers. Industry experts also contributed to the event, including Dr Ng Char Hong, Consultant Breast & Breast Reconstructive Surgeon at Picasso Hospital, who shared insights on breast cancer awareness, early detection and the importance of regular breast health screenings.
Adding a personal dimension to the occasion was Guest of Honour Janagi K. Guruswamy, a breast cancer survivor, who shared her journey of resilience and recovery.
Her experience reinforced the importance of early intervention and the need for greater awareness and support for women navigating breast cancer.
Professor Dr Murallitharan Munisamy, Managing Director of NCSM, said tackling breast cancer required a collective effort from the community.
“Raising awareness about breast cancer and encouraging early screening requires collective effort. This partnership with Renaissance Kuala Lumpur strengthens that shared commitment and advances the cause even further,” he said.
“We warmly welcome this collaboration and thank Renaissance Kuala Lumpur for its support, which will help make a meaningful difference to the women who will benefit from the proceeds.”

Beyond the financial contribution, the partnership also seeks to encourage women to take greater ownership of their breast health.
As part of the initiative, Marriott Bonvoy members will receive a MYR30 subsidy voucher for a mammogram screening at NCSM, providing an additional incentive for eligible women to undergo regular breast health checks.
The Pink Hour Afternoon Tea Set itself features an assortment of handcrafted sweet and savoury delicacies inspired by the symbolic pink ribbon associated with breast cancer awareness. The offering is intended to provide an opportunity for guests to gather and connect while contributing to a cause that extends beyond the dining table.
Guests attending the campaign launch were also invited to participate in a professional breast examination clinic, where they received practical information and guidance on breast health and early detection.
For Renaissance Kuala Lumpur, the campaign demonstrates how hospitality can extend beyond providing an experience for guests to creating a tangible social impact in the surrounding community.
With each Pink Hour Afternoon Tea Set contributing directly to NCSM, the hotel is encouraging diners to enjoy an afternoon tea while playing a small but meaningful role in supporting cancer awareness and patient care.
Priced at MYR178 nett per set, The Pink Hour Afternoon Tea Set is available daily from 12pm to 5pm throughout October 2026 at R Bar, Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel & Convention Centre.
