Ramadan at World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) this year takes on a distinctly nostalgic turn with Laman Tradisi, a buffet that leans into heritage flavours and the comforting atmosphere of a traditional village. Held at Level 2, Legar, the setting is dressed to evoke old kampung courtyards, creating a calm and welcoming backdrop that suits the reflective pace of iftar

Under the direction of Chef Rusmi, the buffet spans more than 200 items with five menu rotations throughout Ramadan, ensuring variety even for repeat diners. The spread is extensive, but what stands out is how familiar Malaysian flavours are prepared with confidence rather than excess.
Among the main dishes, the selection of chicken, beef and lamb dishes reflects classic Malay home-style cooking. The ayam dishes are comforting and well-seasoned, offering gentle spice rather than overpowering heat, while the beef options are slow-cooked until tender, allowing the rempah to fully seep in. Lamb dishes add depth to the line-up, cooked carefully to avoid gaminess, making them approachable even for those who are usually hesitant about lamb.
Seafood lovers will find plenty to enjoy, with over 20 seafood preparations rotating through the buffet. Grilled and sauced seafood dishes are balanced and clean-tasting, highlighting freshness instead of masking it with heavy seasoning. The ulam-ulaman counter, featuring a wide range of traditional herbs and salads, provides a refreshing break from richer dishes and pairs especially well with sambal and budu.

A highlight for many will be the presence of well-known collaborators. Nasi Kandar Saddam makes a strong impression with its fragrant rice and robust curries, offering depth, spice and that unmistakable nasi kandar richness that regulars look for. The Nasi Mandy, presented through a collaboration with Mandy Al Yemen Restaurant, brings a Middle Eastern touch to the buffet, with aromatic rice and tender meat that is subtly spiced and satisfying. To end on a sweet note, Kunafa is served warm, with crisp pastry strands and a creamy interior that balances sweetness without becoming cloying.

Desserts form a sizeable section of the buffet, with close to 30 varieties available. Traditional Malay kuih sit alongside more indulgent sweet treats, making it easy to mix light bites with richer desserts. The beverage counter, offering more than 10 drink options, helps round off the meal, particularly with cooling drinks that are welcome after a long fast.

The Laman Tradisi Ramadan buffet runs from 23 February to 19 March 2026, operating daily from 6.00pm to 10.00pm.
