While we were craving for good baba nyonya peranakan foods, we had discovered an old restaurant which is located in Jalan Alor with more than 17 years of business operation named; Restorant Muar.
The Restaurant Muar is a Baba Nyonya Restaurant selling home-cooked dishes serving the locals and tourists. Among the highly recommended dishes that we found online were its Petai Squid Prawn, Deep Fried Squid, Butter Squid & Prawn, Steamed Herbal Chicken, Salted Egg Chicken, Butter Kailan, Crispy Egg Bom, Otak-Otak, Sambal Petai Omelette, Crispy Dragon-tongue Fish, Jiang Nam Prawn, Salted Egg Chicken, Thai Style Fish and many more.
During our visit, we had ordered its Thai Style Fish (cooked with bunga kantan, serai, turmeric, chilli, galangal, garlic and small onions), Petai Squid & Prawn (Petal Bean cooked with dried chilli paste with small onion & garlic), Otak-Otak (specially from the famous Muar Otak-Otak shop), Salted Egg Chicken (chicken cooked with salted egg yolk, butter and curry leaves), Butter Kailan (chopped kalian stir-fried with butter, carnation milk, chilli padi and curry leaves) and Crispy Egg Bom (Fried Omelete with Home-Made Black Sauce).
Personally we loves all the dishes that we had ordered. They reassemble most of the taste of Baba Nyonya Peranakan cuisines that we eaten in Melaka especially the Petai & Squid & Prawn, Otak-Otak and Salted Egg Chicken. As a egg lovers, we also loves its Crispy Egg Bom too. It takes a great skills to be able to create such delicious crispy omelete eggs that we appreciates a lot.
