Courtyard by Marriott Setia Alam has transformed its 5 Wells Restaurant into a culinary haven for the upcoming Ramadan season with its enchanting buffet, Citarasa Kampung Ku. Embarking on a journey across Malaysia, this gastronomic experience curated by Executive Chef Arfizan Abdul Rahim and Chef Firdaus Aiman Bin Zammani promises to be a delightful exploration of our nation’s rich culinary heritage.

As I entered the dining hall, the aromatic blend of spices immediately set the tone for the evening. The buffet spread was a vibrant tapestry of colors and flavors, showcasing the diverse tastes of Malaysia. Chef Firdaus Aiman’s commitment to preserving traditional dishes was evident in each meticulously crafted dish.

The Kambing Bakar Percik Tanjung Buloh was a standout, offering succulent and perfectly grilled lamb infused with the rich and aromatic percik sauce. The Brisket Rendang Opor Pahang was a delightful fusion of tenderness and bold flavors, a true testament to the chefs’ dedication to authenticity.

One cannot overlook the Pertuk Sup Meletop Kedah, a dish that pays homage to Kedah’s culinary heritage. The burst of flavors in this dish, coupled with its unique preparation, truly captured the essence of traditional Malay cuisine. As Chef Firdaus Aiman rightly pointed out, these dishes are a reflection of our rich ethnic culinary traditions that must not be forgotten.

The Laksa Sarawak, with its aromatic broth and harmonious blend of spices, transported me to the vibrant streets of Sarawak. Similarly, the Rendang Ayam Pencen Daun Maman and Nasi Minyak Serai were a perfect symphony of flavors, highlighting the depth and diversity of Malaysian cuisine.

Chef Firdaus Aiman’s inspiration from his late father’s culinary preferences added a personal touch to the buffet, creating a nostalgic and heartfelt connection with the dishes. It’s evident that the chefs have not only crafted a menu but a cultural narrative that invites guests to rediscover and appreciate Malaysia’s food heritage.

The buffet spread also featured a tantalizing array of Goreng-goreng, Satay, Kebabs, Kerabu-kerabu, Roti John, Kurth Raya, and various rendang variations, served with fresh nasi impit, ketupat, and lemang – the quintessential components of any Hari Raya gathering.
