Evening traffic in Kuala Lumpur is something most working adults know all too well. The moment the workday ends, major roads across the city quickly turn into long lines of cars crawling through rush-hour congestion. For many, staying a little longer in the city often makes more sense than sitting through the gridlock.

Understanding this daily challenge, Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur has introduced a thoughtful dining promotion themed “Dine Now, Home Later.” The idea is simple yet appealing: enjoy a satisfying dinner first, relax in a comfortable setting, and only head home once the traffic has eased.
Available at the hotel’s elegant Chinese restaurant, Lai Ching Yuen, the promotion invites diners to unwind with a specially curated dinner set that combines authentic Cantonese flavours with excellent value. Running from 4 March to 31 May 2026, the set meals are available Tuesday to Sunday from 5pm to 8pm, making it the perfect after-work escape.
For those working outside the Bukit Bintang area, getting there for dinner is also surprisingly convenient thanks to Kuala Lumpur’s rail network. Commuters can hop on the Klang Valley MRT or the KL Monorail and stop at Bukit Bintang Station, which is just a short walk to the hotel. Alternatively, those travelling via the Ampang and Sri Petaling LRT Lines can stop at Hang Tuah LRT Station and take a brief connection to Bukit Bintang. With several public transport options available, it is easy to swing by the city centre for dinner before heading home later in the evening.
A Dim Sum Start to the Evening
The meal begins with four types of steamed and deep-fried dim sum, offering a well-balanced combination of flavours and textures.
The Steamed Shrimp & Chive Dumpling impressed with its thin, delicate skin wrapped around a generous filling of juicy shrimp and aromatic chives. Light yet flavourful, it was a great way to start the meal. The Steamed Bean Curd Roll with Oyster Sauce followed with comforting savoury notes, as the silky bean curd absorbed the rich oyster sauce beautifully.
The fried selections provided a satisfying contrast. The Deep-Fried Prawn Dumpling with Mayonnaise featured a crisp golden exterior and succulent prawn filling, enhanced by a light drizzle of creamy mayonnaise that added a subtle sweetness. Meanwhile, the Deep-Fried Yam Puff delivered a wonderfully airy and flaky crust, with a savoury filling that made it particularly addictive.

A Nourishing Cantonese Soup
Next came the Double-Boiled Black Chicken Soup with Cordyceps Flower and Sun-Dried Scallop, a dish that showcased the finesse of traditional Cantonese soup preparation. The broth was clear yet deeply flavourful, carrying the natural sweetness of sun-dried scallops while the cordyceps flower contributed a gentle earthy aroma. Warm and comforting, it felt especially satisfying after a long workday.
Classic Cantonese Favourites
One of the standout dishes of the set was the Black Vinegar-Glazed Pork Ribs. The ribs were tender and coated in a glossy glaze that balanced tangy black vinegar with a hint of sweetness. The flavour was bold yet harmonious, making it a crowd-pleasing dish that paired wonderfully with the rest of the meal.

The Assorted Vegetables & Mushrooms with Preserved Bean Curd in Clay Pot added a wholesome element to the spread. The vegetables retained their freshness and crunch, while the preserved bean curd provided a savoury depth that elevated the dish without overpowering the natural flavours of the ingredients.
A Hearty Signature Noodle Dish
The meal continued with Lai Ching Yuen’s Special Fried Crispy Noodles with Chicken, Prawns, Squid and Vegetables, a hearty dish that brought the entire set together. The noodles were perfectly crisp on the outside yet softened slightly once coated in the rich gravy. Loaded with seafood and tender chicken slices, the dish delivered both satisfying textures and robust flavours, making it a comforting main course to share.

A Refreshing Sweet Ending
To finish, diners are served Chilled Sago Purée with Fresh Mango, a dessert that provided a refreshing tropical touch. Smooth, creamy and naturally sweet, the mango added a vibrant freshness that balanced the savoury richness of the earlier courses.
Adding to the relaxing dining experience is unlimited refillable Chinese tea, allowing guests to enjoy their meal slowly while catching up with friends or colleagues.

Affordable Five-Star Dining
The dinner sets are priced at RM188++ for four persons and RM98++ for two persons, offering impressive value for a multi-course Cantonese meal in a refined five-star environment.
With its “Dine Now, Home Later” theme, the promotion is a clever invitation for city workers to turn their post-work hours into something more enjoyable. Instead of watching the traffic crawl along the roads, diners can sit back, savour a well-prepared Cantonese feast and only head home when the roads are finally clear.
After all, if you have to wait for the traffic to ease, it might as well be over a great dinner.
