The 4th Malaysia International Durian & Cultural Fest 2024: A Grand Celebration of Durian and Malaysian Culture

The much-anticipated 4th Malaysia International Durian & Cultural Fest 2024 has officially kicked off, marking the largest durian buffet festival of its kind. Hosted by DKING in partnership with DURIAN CAPITAL, this exciting event runs from September 11th to 16th, 2024, and celebrates the durian as the “King of Fruits” while showcasing Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage.

The festival is a massive durian buffet extravaganza, offering durian lovers the chance to indulge in a wide range of varieties, including the prized Musang King. In collaboration with the Malaysian Inbound Chinese Association (MICA), the event promotes Malaysian durians to both local and international visitors. Over 900 guests from China alone arrived on the festival’s first day, contributing to the total of 1,000 overseas guests attending the festival. The organizers hope to elevate the festival to become a globally recognized celebration known as “DurianFest” or “Hari Durian.”

The event also emphasizes cultural diversity by partnering with the iFood Expo, Malaysia’s largest food expo. The festival coincides with the Mid-Autumn Festival, providing attendees the opportunity to enjoy mooncakes and take part in the traditional Tang Long (lantern) celebrations. This fusion of durian and cultural festivities underscores the richness of Malaysia’s multi-ethnic heritage, bringing people together through food and shared traditions.

In addition to its culinary focus, the festival highlights agro-tourism by inviting visitors to explore durian farms and learn about the durian cultivation process, from planting to harvesting. Visitors will also enjoy authentic local dishes such as Nasi Lemak, Penang Laksa, and traditional Malaysian kuih. The experience is further enriched by farm homestays, giving attendees a taste of Kampung life. On Sunday, the **Durian Fun Run** will see over 1,000 participants join the festivities, adding an active, family-friendly element to the event.

With over 2,500 durian enthusiasts and a variety of cultural activities, the Malaysia International Durian & Cultural Fest 2024 is a true celebration of both durians and Malaysian culture. The event is set to cement its place as a cornerstone of Malaysia’s agro-tourism initiatives, with hopes to further its reach and recognition on an international level.
