Dim sum is a comfort food staple that most Malaysians adore, but at Ming Ren Xuan, located at Avenue K, it’s elevated to a whole new level of sophistication. On our latest visit, we indulged in their signature dim sum offerings – and what a treat it was! This isn’t your typical weekend brunch spread. Each piece was a beautiful balance of tradition and innovation, featuring premium ingredients like black truffle, caviar, and even abalone.

1. Steamed Pork & Prawn Dumplings with Caviar
Classic siu mai gets a luxe makeover here. These were plump, meaty, and juicy – already delicious on their own, but the tiny spoonful of caviar on top added a briny pop that made each bite extra indulgent.
2. Steamed Prawn Dumplings with Black Truffle
Har gow lovers, take note. These dumplings were translucent and delicate, packed with fresh prawns, and subtly perfumed with black truffle. It was a beautiful combination of land and sea in one bite – aromatic, savoury, and completely satisfying.
3. Steamed Pandan Buns with Salted Egg Yolks and Custard
This was a pleasant surprise! The buns were naturally green from the pandan and soft like clouds. Inside? A rich, molten centre of salted egg yolk and custard that oozed out gloriously. Sweet, salty, and fragrant all at once – easily one of our favourites.

4. Steamed Prawns & Lycium Dumplings with Eryngii Mushroom
Healthier in nature, these dumplings offered a nourishing, slightly sweet flavour thanks to the goji berries (lycium), while the eryngii mushrooms added a pleasant chewiness. A more delicate and herbal profile, perfect if you’re looking for something lighter.
5. Baked Bamboo Charcoal Buns stuffed with Barbecued Pork
These charcoal buns were beautifully baked with a slightly crisp exterior and an unbelievably fluffy inside. The char siu filling was smoky, savoury, and just the right amount of sweet. Every bite was addictive!
6. Pan-Fried Radish Cake with Dried Scallops
A dim sum must-have, but here it’s taken up a notch. Pan-fried to golden perfection, with bits of dried scallops that add a wonderful depth of umami. Crisp on the outside, soft and flavourful on the inside – this one hits all the right notes.

7. Deep-Fried Yam Puff stuffed with Abalone and Truffle
This is dim sum luxury in a bite. The flaky, creamy yam puff shell gives way to a savoury filling of abalone and truffle. It’s rich, aromatic, and completely satisfying. Definitely a must-try if you love yam puffs but want something extra.
8. Deep-Fried Bean Curd Rolls stuffed with Pork and Preserved Vegetables
These crispy rolls were crunchy and flavourful, with a satisfying bite from the preserved vegetables that added an extra dimension to the minced pork filling. A nostalgic dish with a gourmet twist.
9. Barbecued Duo Combination Platter
We also ordered the BBQ platter which came with perfectly roasted meats – tender, juicy, and seasoned beautifully. A solid choice for anyone who loves classic Cantonese roasts.

10. Signature Fried Rice with Assorted Seafood
While not technically a dim sum item, this dish rounded out the meal perfectly. Fragrant, wok-fried rice loaded with prawns, scallops, and other seafood treasures – each grain was flavour-packed and fluffy. A comforting finale.
Dim sum at Ming Ren Xuan is not your typical casual affair – it’s refined, beautifully plated, and filled with premium ingredients that make every bite feel special. From classic siu mai to truffle-infused surprises, it’s a dim sum experience worth splurging on.
