Huawei has officially launched its latest innovation in wearable technology, the HUAWEI WATCH 5, a smartwatch designed to redefine health tracking, gesture interaction, and futuristic aesthetics. The announcement was made by Huawei Consumer Business Group (CBG), marking the newest chapter in the company’s decade-long evolution of the HUAWEI WATCH Series since its inception in 2015.
Blending elegant craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology, the HUAWEI WATCH 5 is now available for pre-order in Malaysia, starting from RM1,799, with exclusive deals and gifts for early buyers.
A Design Inspired by the Edge of Space
Drawing inspiration from the Kármán Line—the threshold between Earth’s atmosphere and space—the HUAWEI WATCH 5 debuts in two sizes: 42mm and 46mm. The watch is encased in materials ranging from 904L stainless steel to aerospace-grade silver, with new colour options such as Sand Gold, Beige, and Purple. Huawei’s latest innovation also introduces a composite strap that looks like leather but is waterproof, odour-resistant, and stain-free—ideal for both fashion and function.
Every watch features a spherical sapphire glass display, underscoring Huawei’s emphasis on durability and visual clarity.
X-TAP Technology: Game-Changing Health Monitoring
At the heart of the WATCH 5 is Huawei’s proprietary Multi-sensing X-TAP technology, an industry-first innovation that integrates ECG, PPG, and tactile sensors into a single interface. This allows for fingertip-based sensing, offering rapid and precise readings of key health metrics. A simple three-second press on the sensor grants access to Health Glance, a snapshot of 10 key health indicators, including HRV, emotional wellbeing, and SpO2, delivered in under a minute.
Significantly, the new fingertip SpO2 monitor provides results in under 10 seconds, utilising the richer blood vessel distribution in fingertips for more accurate data.
Smarter Control, Seamless Living
The HUAWEI WATCH 5 also introduces gesture controls, such as Double Slide and Double Tap, for effortless navigation. These intuitive gestures allow users to manage calls, music, and even remote camera functions without touching the screen—particularly useful during workouts or when hands are occupied. Gesture controls also extend to third-party apps, enhancing accessibility across different platforms.
Additionally, the WATCH 5 supports eSIM connectivity, allowing users to stay connected without needing their smartphone in tow. The dual-mode battery system offers up to 4.5 days (46mm) and 3 days (42mm) in Standard Mode, with Battery Saver Mode stretching usage up to 11 days and 7 days, respectively.

The HUAWEI WATCH 5 is available for pre-order at all HUAWEI Experience Stores, the official Huawei website, as well as online platforms including Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop. A RM50 deposit unlocks a rebate of up to RM70, along with free gifts worth up to RM746, including a pair of HUAWEI FreeBuds 5 and three-month access to Health+.
