A Culinary Journey Through Thai Hou Sek’s Delectable Thai-Chinese Pork Delights

Our recent culinary adventure led us to Thai Hou Sek, a vibrant non-halal restaurant nestled in the heart of One Utama Shopping Mall. Renowned for its creative fusion of Thai and Chinese cuisines, Thai Hou Sek introduces a tantalizing array of pork-infused dishes that promise to satisfy even the most discerning palates.

Here’s a delightful rundown of some of the standout dishes we had the pleasure of savoring:

1. Bang Bang Baby Shrimp-Shroom: This dish wowed us with its crunchy texture and explosive flavors. The deep-fried baby shrimp and shimeiji mushrooms, tossed with garlic and Thai spicy chili basil flakes, created a perfect balance of heat and umami.

2. Super Sticky Pork Belly: A true indulgence, the deep-fried pork belly glazed in a spicy sticky tamarind sauce left us craving more. The combination of crispy pork and the rich, tangy sauce was a match made in culinary heaven.

3. Siu Yok Red Tom Yum: This innovative take on Tom Yum soup elevated the dish with the addition of Siu Yuk. The spicy and sour creamy soup, infused with fragrant spices, complemented the crispy pork belly, resulting in a delightful explosion of flavors.

4. Basil Soy Steamed Seabass: A culinary masterpiece, this dish featured an elevated version of the classic steamed soy and ginger fish. The fragrant basil infused into the tender seabass made each bite a symphony of savory and herbal notes.

5. Drunken Seafood Master: This dish transported us to the shores with its delightful combination of Tiger Prawn, squid, and mussel bathed in Chinese wine. The infusion of Chinese wine enhanced the oceanic flavors, creating a harmonious blend that delighted our taste buds.

6. Garlic Scapes: A simple yet flavorful dish, the Garlic Scapes with Dried Shrimp and Tofu showcased the culinary prowess of Thai Hou Sek. The combination of garlic scapes and dried shrimp added a unique twist to the familiar tofu, creating a dish that was both comforting and delicious.

And of course, no culinary journey is complete without indulging in some sweet delights. We treated ourselves to three divine desserts:

1. Mango Sticky Rice: A classic done to perfection, this dessert featured sticky rice steamed in coconut milk, accompanied by fresh mango, mango pop pop, and grated coconut. Each bite was a sweet symphony of tropical flavors.

2. Tropical Dream: A dreamy concoction of coconut ice cream, deep-fried jackfruit, mango pop pop, gula melaka, grass jelly, mango, kidney bean, and crushed peanuts. This dessert was a celebration of textures and tastes, leaving us with a tropical paradise on our palates.

3. Thai Milk Tea Sando: The perfect ending to our feast, this dessert showcased Thai milk tea ice cream, toast, gula melaka, and yoghurt pop pop. A delightful blend of sweet and creamy, it provided a satisfying conclusion to our culinary adventure.

Thai Hou Sek proved to be a haven for those seeking the perfect fusion of Thai and Chinese flavors, with a sinful twist of pork-infused delights.
