Local markets is the place where you could understand more about the local’s food culture. In Yogyakarta, eRayn3 has manage to visit 2 of the well known local market to learn more about the foods they buy and cook.

1) Borobudur Traditional Market

Borobudur Market was originally located near Borobudur Temple. In 1982, due to an expansion of the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park area, this relatively large traditional market was moved about half a kilometer to the north, close to Borobudur Terminal.

But indeed in the Borobudur traditional market it is quite complete, starting from fresh vegetables, fruits, food, clothes, traditional snacks, herbs, and other daily necessities were all there, it is great to have such traditional markets. In addition to support the local farmers, the prices of essential ingredients are cheaper than in supermarkets and the quality is the same.
