Umami a newly opened restaurant in Sunway Pyramid is one of the unique Japanese restaurant available in Kuala Lumpur who serves varieties of Japanese cuisine on ceramic plate.
Umami (/uˈmɑːmi/, from Japanese: うま味) or savory taste is one of the five basic tastes (together with sweetness, sourness, bitterness, and saltiness). It has been described as savory and is characteristic of broths and cooked meats.
While Tobanyaki means another Japanese art of cooking which makes use of “toban” 陶板or ceramic plates to cook meats. Since “toban” 陶板can easily transmit and retain heat even after removal from the heat source, it can cook meats more evenly and lock in the juices and flavours inside. The meat is cooked slowly and completely without the need to add extra oil. This slow cooking process is the same as steaming and it retains all
the nutrients of the food.
