Sonobudoyo Museum is located ah Jl. Trikora no. 6 north town square Yogyakarta. It was officially opened on 6 November 1935 bu Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono VIII.
Various collections in Sonobudoyo Museum came from research results of Java Institute. There are approximately 43,263 collections from 10 categories; Geological, Biological, Ethnographical, Archeological, Historical, Numismatical/Heraldical, Filological, Ceramological, Art and Technological collections which reflects the cultural process from Java, Bali, Lombok, and Madura.
There are also a library with a wide range of books and manuscripts, that describes the culture of Indonesia. In addition of that, Sonobudoyo Museum held a shortened duration of leather puppet shows regularly.
